A gamer is someone who can play with great dedication and interest in video games and have extensive knowledge about them.
Sometimes the name hardcore-gamer is used to refer to an amateur player who seeks to complete the maximum content (achievements, weapons, character unlocking, etc.) of a title, being more common in online video games than in the normal ones, being a case different from an addict. The addiction linked to videogames is, in the case of multiplayer videogames, a form of cyberaddiction.
